Marte town in Borno state has reportedly been
captured by Boko Haram members after about
2,000 of them stormed the town on Thursday April
23rd and engaged Nigerian troops in a gun battle,
forcing the troops to flee the town.
A resident of the village, Imamu Habib, narrating
what happened said;
“The terrorists, numbering over 2,000,
appeared from various directions on
Thursday and engaged the soldiers in
Kirenowa town and adjoining communities
in Marte. They fought with soldiers over
the night and the fight continued today
(Friday), forcing hundreds of soldiers to
flee” he said.
Many people were killed during the shootout while
many homes were destroyed. Marte town, which
is believed to be rich in oil due to its proximity to
Lake Chad, has been attacked twice by the sect
members. They first captured the town in 2012
but were chased out by Nigerian troops shortly
after the declaration of state of emergency in
Borno state in 2013. They also attempted to take
over the town the second time in 2014 but were
forced out by Nigerian troops.

Patience Jonathan to quit as President of African First Ladies
Following her husband's defeat at the recently
held presidential election, Mrs Patience Jonathan
has called for an emergency meeting of the
African Ladies Peace Mission where she has
served as President since July 2012. Mrs
Jonathan was elected President of the group in
July 2012 and was expected to do two year term
but with the exit of her husband from office, she
will have to handover as President to someone
else. Read the letter calling for the emergency
meeting after the cut...
"Your Excellency may recall that Nigeria
was re-elected President of the AFLPM at
the 7th Summit in Abuja in July 2012. With
the recent election in my country and a
new government coming on board from
May 29, 2015, it has become necessary to
convene an emergency summit of the
AFLPM to facilitate a smooth and formal
hand over to the new Executive Committee
that will pilot the affairs of the Peace
Mission for the next two years. The
Emergency Summit is proposed for Friday,
May 15, 2015 at the Interim Secretariat of
the African First Ladies Peace Mission,
Abuja by 2pm. The Summit will, however,
be preceded by the 4th meeting of the
Executive Bureau by 9am, on May 15 at
the same venue. The Bureau Meeting is for
members of the Executive Bureau,
comprising South Africa, Sudan,
Cameroon, Libya and Congo Brazzaville. In
the light of the above, may I appeal to
Your Excellency to give utmost
consideration to attending the Emergency
Summit in order to ensure that our
organisation maintains its current
momentum. We will deeply appreciate
your kind early response to help us in
planning the Summit, in view of limited
time available to us.”

Presidential election result: PDP says it would be heading to court
"Whether I sign it (the result sheet) or I don’t sign it, does not make any difference. It doesn’t invalidate the result. When we go to court, then we can challenge the result,” he said.Dr Bello spoke on the affirmative that the party would be heading to the tribunal
"Sure! The party petitioned. Don’t forget. So the party will follow through the petition. There are rules for this. The law is there. The result was declared on the 1st of April, I think. We will follow the due process. Like the president (Jonathan) said, ‘If you have any grievances, follow due process and the due process in this instance is to go to the tribunal.”he said

Photos: Woman beats teacher in front of her students for sleeping with her husband

as having an affair with her husband. But instead of the students and
other members of staff to stop the fight, they stood aside, watched the
fight, filmed it and uploaded the clip on Youtube. Dang!!
35 year old Laelia Paredes Flores, stormed into the classroom in
Huimanguillo in south-east Mexico, and attacked 32 year old Marcella
Villalpando
Tovar. Tovar was kicked, punched in her face and stomach and jumped on.
And her students didn't do anything to stop it. In fact, another woman
can be heard off camera encouraging the beat down. Wow! See the video
after the cut...
Student Miriam Gracia Adomo, 16, said:"The woman charged in and began shouting and screaming before punching our teacher to the floor.That’s when I ran to get help. But when other teachers came they just stood around watching. It was really terrible, terrible."After the act was widely condemned, a school spokesperson released a statement saying;
“The woman claimed that our teacher was having an affair with the husband of one of the student’s dads and the mother took exception. We are appalled that this attack happened in our school and that nothing was done to stop it, and we shall be carrying out a full investigation.”
