Men of the Abia State Command of the Nigeria
Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC have
rescued over 20 young pregnant women in a baby
factory it discovered at Umunkpeyi in Isiala Ngwa
South LGA, following a tip off.
Parading the rescued women and some of the
workers in the baby factory, the state commandant
of NSCDC, Andy Dateer, said the baby factory is
named Nma Charity and Motherless Babies’ Home,
and that the owner who is now at-large, brings in
men to impregnate the girls. He said after delivery,
the babies are sold, and the mothers paid peanuts.
He said three children under the age of two, who
were being prepared for sale, were rescued while
four ‘social workers’ and four men were arrested in
the raid. See more photos...
One of the pregnant women was reportedly very ill
and in a critical condition. She was immediately
rushed to the hospital for medical attention.
Mr Dateer said the NSCDC will monitor the
repatriation of the girls back to their respective
homes.
